Shoes of the Week 22/08/2012 - New Look Burgandy Wedge Creepers

Hi guys

Sorry this post is a day late but I do have a very good reason.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of being part of the live studio audience for the queen of style , Mr Gok Wan's newest show for channel 4. "Baggage" is a completely new format which hopes to play matchmaker but with a twist - each contestant comes with some form of baggage i.e. in lots of debt and the guy or girl has to decide whose baggage they can handle.

I had great fun being part of the audience and managed to speak (very briefly) to Gok Wan himself. There was a great atmosphere inside the studio and everyone was very happy and excited to be there. The show will air in September/October so keep your eyes peeled because it will certainly be one to watch.

My shoes of the week are these Burgundy high wedge creepers .

The brothel creeper style has been creeping into shoe stockists through out this year as part of an on going trend. However this chunky flat heeled shoe has been around since the late 50's and is more commonly associated with stereotypical "goths" and "emo's".

Creeper's have never been far from fashion with them appearing in the 50s, 70s, 80s, 90s and now. The most notorious brand in modern day is Underground England.  These offer several varieties including single, double and wedge soles.

This pair are from New Look and are priced at £27.99 . When you compare this to the £110 asking price from Underground you can certainly see some savings. I would say they are very good imitations and the Burgundy is only available in the wedge style at New Look.

The creepers in general do take some getting use to as the soles are completely flat (you may feel like you are walking out of them) but after a few wears this disappears. The brilliant thing about the wedges is that you gain in height but don't gain in discomfort from trying to balance on the balls of your feet.

Overall I give 7 / 10 .

Lovely shoes which are comfy to wear but hard to put an outfit with, making them fashionably impractical.

See you soon
